Writing Resources

There are a lot of writing resources out there, some great, some…not so great.  What works for me might just annoy you, but here are some of the sites I’ve found helpful.

Hollylisle.com

Holly has one of the best writing sites out there.  She’s not afraid to talk about the hard stuff–the stuff no one else wants to mention.  Her site has a ton of free content–articles, how-tos, advice–but she also offers some paid courses.  How To Think Sideways is a course designed to help you break through your personal writing barriers and make a career out of it.  How To Revise Your Novel is an intensive and thorough class designed to take you from the book you wrote, to the book you wanted to write.  Holly also started Forward Motion, as a means to help other writers as much as she could.

NaNoWriMo

I have to mention this site, as it’s the reason I actually finished a novel.  NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month.  In other words, November.  The goal is to write 50,000 words in 30 days, and this site gives you all the support you need to do that.  You can browse the forums, make NaNo buddies, and even get involved in Regional meetings and competitions.  A very supportive, enthusiastic community of writers hangs out here, and the friendships you form can last through the rest of the year, too.
