I’m happy with this writing week: a review for The Roaring Days of Zora Lily, by Noelle Salaza, which was a fantastic historical fiction read, and I actually did some fiction-writing. Five hundred words is better than no words!

Sundays Are for Writing #243
This was an okay writing week: I wrote two book reviews and did some outlining on the fiction story. I wrote reviews for Bright Lights, Big Christmas, by Mary Kay Andrews and Case of the Bleus, by Korina Moss. Both will be out next week. Hopefully I’ll get a bit more reading done this week than last week. Now I’m off to write some fiction.

I was off most of this week, which was wonderful, and I got a lot of reading done. Not as much writing done, but I’m good with that. I reviewed The River Runs South, by Audrey Ingram and Main Character Energy, by Jamie Varon. I also unearthed an old manuscript of mine and have been reading over it.

Sundays Are for Writing #240
This has been a decent writing week. I wrote three book reviews, Her Radiant Curse, by Elizabeth Lim, Letters from My Sister, by Valerie Fraser Luesse, and Kissing Kosher, by Jean Meltzer. I DNFed the last one because the characters annoyed me so badly–that’s the second book from this author I’ve DNFed for that reason–but I enjoyed the other two reads. I have some time off this next week, so I’m hoping to do plenty of reading AND writing.

This was a great writing week! I wrote three book reviews: The Keeper of Hidden Books, by Madeline Martin, The Bone Hacker, by Kathy Reichs, and The Secret Recipe of Ella Dove, by Karen Hawkins. I also wrote my What I Read in July (2023) post and my The Best Books I Read in July (2023) post. I DNFed Deadlock, by James Byrne because it just didn’t hold my attention. I don’t foresee this week to be anywhere near that good.

Work was absolutely crazy again this week, so I only wrote two book reviews: Charm City Rocks, by Matthew Norman and Famous in a Small Town, by Viola Shipman. You should read the first book, but don’t waste your time with the second. I’m hoping this week will be a little less crazy.

This was a decent writing week: I wrote two book reviews, The Viscount Who Vexed Me, by Julia London and The Dueling Duchess, by Minerva Spencer. I also did a little bit of work on my story idea. I need to make some decisions on setting and culture, so I can push through my inertia there.
