Sundays are for Writing #261

This was a fantastic writing week! I got in five fiction-writing sessions, and I wrote three book reviews, too: A Body at the Seance, The Missing Witness (up on Tuesday), and It Takes a Rake (up on Thursday). I’m very happy with this amount of writing.

How was your writing week?

Sundays Are for Writing #259

This was a fantastic writing week! I wrote one book review, Emily Wilde’s Map of the Otherland, by Heather Fawcett (won’t be up until 1/18), and five fiction sessions!

Last February, I started trying to write every day, and I think I missed three days the rest of the year. However, “writing” consisted of fiction or book reviews or writing in my prayer journal. This year, I refined my goal. Yes, I still plan to write every day, but I want five of those writing sessions every week to be fiction (aiming for just 500 words/session). And this week, I hit that, so I’m celebrating.

Sundays Are for Writing #258

This was an absolutely crazy week at work! Despite that, I still, somehow, wrote three book reviews: A Body on the Doorstep, by Marty Wingate, Principles of Emotion, by Sara Read, and The Heiress, by Rachel Hawkins, all forthcoming. I didn’t get any fiction written this week, but I actually set a monthly fiction word count goal for January, so I’ll start chipping away at that this week. I’ll also have my December reading post up tomorrow, a 2023 reading post up Tuesday, and the best books I read in December up Wednesday.

Happy New Year, and happy writing!

Sundays are for Writing #28

I didn’t write any fiction this week. My brain is not cooperating with that currently.

But, I did write a fair amount of non-fiction this week:

-four book reviews
-three staff profile blogs for the internship +
-finishing a super long blog post +
-transcribing an interview for another blog post for the internship.

Hopefully, my brain will cooperate with the fiction-writing next week. Turning over some ideas in life is taking up all its energy right now.

Sundays are for Writing #26

I decreased my fiction-writing goal to one session a week this week. Which is…sad, I know, but with things so stressful lately, I’ve needed to put resting and de-stressing at the top of my list.

And it worked, more or less. I got in my writing session on Saturday. I also wrote a long piece for the internship and a shorter personal profile as well.

More importantly, I survived the unusually chaotic and stressful workweek, so there’s that.

Sundays are for Writing #22

I got in three writing sessions for the week, for a total of 2,250 words. I only completed one writing lesson this week, however, but…work was tough this week, despite being off on Monday.

-Tuesday:  worked 3.5 hours at my day job + 4 hours at my internship.

-Wednesday:  worked 14 hours at the day job.

-Thursday:  4 hours at the internship.

-Friday:  worked almost 17 hours at the day job (Yeah, that sucked as much as it sounds like, especially since I have to do it again tomorrow. )

I’m hoping to catch up on that missed writing lesson this week.

Sundays are for Writing #18

I had another good writing week! Three days, two 10-minute sessions each day, for a little over 2,250 words.

I know that’s chump change to my old daily word counts, but I’m happy with the consistency.

I also outlined five scenes and completed two writing lessons, so I hit all my writing goals for the week!

Sundays are for Writing #17

I had a good writing week. I got all my words, but I changed my sessions just a bit to accommodate my schedule:  three sessions on Tuesday, one after work on Wednesday, and two on Saturday.

I also outlined five scenes and did two writing lessons this week, so I hit all my writing goals!

Sundays are for Writing #14

Not only did I get in three writing days this week—a bit over my goal of 2,250 words—but I also finished up two lessons in HTWAN! So I hit both goals for the week!

Writing-wise, I’m still wandering, as I have only a bare idea of plot, but my goal for this week—in addition to word count—is to outline five scenes (sentence per scene), so I have some idea where I’m going. I know from experience that I wander when I don’t outline, so it’s time to correct that.

Words. No wandering.

Sundays are for Writing #13

This week was crazy busy. Seriously. But, I still got in two writing days!

About 1,500 words of fiction this week. (Ah…10,000-word days are such a fond/unbelievable memory now. Thank you, NaNo!). I also wrote five book reviews this week (three of those were written and scheduled on Thursday, before I left for my conference.)

For accountability purposes:  in addition to three writing days this week (or 2,200 words), my goal is also to get two lessons done in HTWAN, because I am woefully behind.

How was everyone else’s writing this week?
